Police Department Challenge

For several years, the department used an outdated, legacy system that did not meet current or future industry requirements.

New World Solution

New World provided the Montgomery Police Department with the latest in technology for CAD, Records Management, Mobile Computing, and Corrections Management to enhance community services.

Community Benefits

New World Systems Aegis® Public Safety Software provides the agency with true integration, providing immediate access to real-time information.

  • Dispatchers can quickly look up the history of a location or person to provide information to the officer en route to a scene
  • Using Mobile Computing, officers in the field can access data on a subject prior to approaching a vehicle in a traffic stop, arming the officer with better information
  • Corrections officers can look up information on a person prior to release to ensure an inmate who has additional warrants is not released

Introduction

Prior to purchasing New World Systems' Aegis Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management and Mobile Computing software applications, the Montgomery Police Department was using a legacy system that deprived the department of new technology.

"We chose New World because we wanted to take advantage of emerging technology, such as crime analysis and mapping and alarm tracking and billing," said Major Rob Stuart, of the Montgomery Police Department's Communications and Records Division. "New World continues to provide new and advanced software solutions to meet the industry's ever-growing needs, which is critical in public safety."

Overcoming Challenges

When change is imminent, it can cause a disruption to daily processes. Many of the officers and civilians at the Montgomery Police Department used the prior system for years. They were apprehensive about starting over with a new system.

The Montgomery Police Department and New World worked together to overcome the users' reservations by involving everyone in the implementation process. New World took the approach of "train the trainer," which gave everyone an opportunity to be trained on the software. This also helped because the users could ask each other questions in the beginning, and they were able to train new people.

"During the training process, New World was able to show everyone how the system could truly make each person more efficient and save time," said Stuart.

Customer Service

"I think one of New World's biggest strengths is the development team," said Stuart. "One day we had an issue with our Mobile Computing Message Switch, so we called New World. One of the developers was online and in our system within ten minutes and fixed the issue quickly, which made us very happy."

Benefits

  • New World’s software provides real-time information easily and quickly.
  • Integrated system requires information to be entered only once, eliminating redundant data entry
  • Ability to access information quickly when the agency needs it
  • Increased Geo-file capability, helping officers find locations quicker to decrease response times

Testimonial

"Over the last nine years using New World, we have been happy with the software and services, and we would recommend New World to other police departments," said Stuart.
