City of Mansfield, Ohio plans to do more with less using New World Systems solutions

Troy, Michigan - Monday, May 03, 2010

The City of Mansfield, Ohio has partnered with an industry leader to increase efficiencies and improve service to the community. The City has signed a contract to license New World Systems’ integrated Logos.NET® Public Administration suite of software applications on the Microsoft.NET™ platform to replace a 20-year-old system and overcome a decline in resources.

“Unfortunately, like so many other cities across the country, approximately 30% of our staff has been cut over the last year due to the economy,” said Kelly Blankenship, Finance Director. “In order for us to be efficient with fewer people, we needed a technology upgrade enabling us to streamline our processes.”

The City of Mansfield was looking for a solution built on the latest technology that would streamline business processes, simplify and decentralize access to data, reduce paperwork and save time each day for City employees. After conducting a comprehensive review of available ERP solutions, City officials found New World’s fully-integrated Logos.NET Financial Management, Payroll and Human Resources, Utility Management, Community Development and eSuite software to be the best solutions to help them accomplish their goals.

“We were looking for software built on a Microsoft platform and a very thin client,” said Chris Risner, IT Director. “From our on-site software demonstrations, it was obvious that New World’s browser-based client was exactly what we were looking for.”

“No other vendor offers a package that can compare with what New World provides,” said Blankenship. “They specialize in public sector software and are very in tune with local government needs. Their solutions are developed to increase efficiency, saving us valuable time and allowing us to accomplish our goal of providing more quality services with fewer employees.”

Developed in-house using proven Microsoft.NET™ technology, industry-standard Windows® Server and SQL® Server, New World’s browser-based applications will allow anytime, anywhere access to information for City employees and City council members. The easy-to-use Windows environment and simplified reporting offered by New World’s software will help City departments better track their budgets and perform inquiries on their own instead of calling other departments for assistance.

Designed to help local government employees do more work in less time, New World’s applications are built from the ground up to work together seamlessly and integrate with other software the City uses on a regular basis, including ESRI for embedded mapping capabilities. The completely integrated applications, built-in workflow and electronic approvals in New World’s software will increase productivity, eliminate redundant data entry and reduce manual and paper-based business processes for the City.

The City will use New World’s eSuite software to empower more than 50,000 Mansfield residents with 24/7 online access to information and a more convenient way to communicate with the City offices.

“New World’s software will provide more access to information for everyone,” said Blankenship. “We are looking forward to improving the public’s experience and how they interact with the City.”
