In the early 1990's, Bountiful decided to search for a public safety software package to help manage its police, fire and EMS departments. The city was looking for one vendor to supply a computer aided dispatch (CAD) and records management system for all three of its public safety agencies. After deciding to procure a new management system for the public safety departments, the city officials decided it was a good time to research it financial and administration system as well. They wanted one vendor to supply software for all their needs.
After researching numerous solution providers, the city decided to partner with New World Systems. "There were two major factors in our decision to go with New World Systems' software," according to Mark McRae, City Treasurer. "The first was a comparison of the software capabilities with our old software. The second was that New World worked exclusively with local government customers and had the experience that made it a good match for our city."
The city has undergone both major and minor upgrades since implementing the New World solution. McRae says customer support has always been good and there are very knowledgeable people who do the training. He adds, "New World stays current in government procedures and processes as well as computer technology. Enhancements are continually being made and New World is always ahead of what we want. They came out with laptop
mobile computing and scanning capabilities long before we ever thought we wanted it."
Bountiful also takes advantage of New World's Annual Customer Conference to enhance training and knowledge of the products. They also like the fact that each division conference is held separately so one person may attend both if needed.
