Introduction

When it was time for the City of West St. Paul, MN to purchase new public administration software system for local governments, the City created a technology committee. The committee was responsible for finding a software solution to meet each department’s needs.

 

Once the committee assessed its needs, a request for proposal (RFP) was created and sent to numerous public sector software vendors. It was important for the new software to have licensing and building permit capabilities as well as having a possible link for public safety software.

“I inherited the system administration job for the iSeries server, which was something I did not expect or feel prepared for,” said Harris. “As part of the job, I have to install software and system updates.
