The County’s main goals for their new solution, and the reason they were in search of new software, were to improve productivity and ease-of-use for employees, reduce redundant data entry and streamline IT maintenance requirements.
New World Solution
Randolph County selected New World Systems’ Logos.NET solution in 2005 after an extensive evaluation process. The County licensed Financial Management, Payroll and Human Resources software. They are currently in the process of also implementing the web-based eSuite application that will enable employees to view and maintain personal and payroll information online. The improved application will let employees obtain more information on their own, reducing workload for Human Resources employees.
Benefits to the County
New World Systems is known for reliability and longevity in public sector software; a welcome change from the turmoil and uncertainty that is often found in the software industry. Communities of all sizes use New World Systems’ solutions to make government more accessible, more responsive and more efficient. With more than 25 years in business, local governments know New World Systems’ solutions are functionally tailored to their specific operations. The solutions provide everything needed to address operational needs.
Rising to the Challenge
Since going live on New World Systems’ Logos.NET Financial Management, Payroll and Human Resources software in January 2006, officials in Randolph County, North Carolina say they see significant benefits. The new solution allows for improved productivity and ease-of-use for employees, reducing redundant data entry and streamlining IT maintenance requirements.
“We developed a strategic plan built around the Microsoft platform that included using the Microsoft SQL Server database and establishing the Financial Management application as the integration hub of the system to eliminate silos of data,” said Project Manager Diane Mitchem. “We saw New World System’s solution took advantage of the Microsoft tools we were looking for. In addition, because Logos.NET is a browser-based application, it provides ease-of-maintenance by eliminating the need to install and upgrade client software.”
Implementation Success
New World Systems’ professional services staff worked to make the project a success from the beginning. “New World Systems’ project team was excellent and understood our needs,” said Deputy Finance Officer Jane Leonard. The kickoff meeting and discovery process led us onto the right path and New World Systems’ project manager stayed in close contact with our internal project manager the entire time.”
Integration Benefits
County personnel are benefiting from the integration provided by Logos.NET.
“One of the best things is the inquiry capability,” said Mitchem. “If a vendor calls and wants to know the status of a payment, you can tell them exactly where it is in the process. Our previous system produced a single, monthly printout for each department, so users were always working from dated information. Now they can follow purchase orders from initiation to closure, all online.
Positioning the County for the Future
In addition to Financial Management, Human Resources and Payroll, the County is in the process of rolling out the web-based eSuite application, which for Payroll and Human Resources will allow employees to view and maintain personal and payroll information online.
“eSuite will help us keep our information correct by making it easier for employees to update their personal information,” said Leonard. “The abillity for employees to view and print previous direct deposit notifications will help reduce the number of calls for reprints of pay information.
The department heads will have fewer inquiries regarding accrual balances because the employees will have access to their history information online.”
Testimonial
“Our partnership with New World Systems truly contributes to the success of the services the county provides,” said Leonard.
