Introduction
Back in 1991, the City of Newnan, Ga., signed a contract to license New World Systems’ Logos Public Administration software on the IBM® iSeries platform. Twelve years later, and some new personnel on board, including Finance Director Katrina Cline, it was decided that the city needed a new system to better do their jobs and enhance service to employees and the community.
A team of city employees began looking at additional software options that would better serve the city’s needs. After careful consideration and research into what the city needed, a request for proposal was created. After seeing several software demonstrations, the city then saw a demonstration of New World’s Logos.NET solution on the browser-based, Microsoft .Net platform.
“We were honestly blown away,” said Cline. “We loved the look of the screens, the greatly-enhanced security, the reporting features, the ability to sort, resize, and manipulate data right on the screen, the graphs/charts, the drill-down features, the trends, you name it. We all agreed that nothing we had previewed even compared to New World’s software - the capabilities far exceeded other packages.”
Overcoming Challenges
“The AS/400 system purchased in 1991 was not being used as efficiently as it could,” said Cline. “Rather than utilizing the software to automate and drive processes, the city customized the software so it would match our manual processes. Many other things were not current either, from software upgrades and enhancements to training.”
Logos.NET provides the city with the potential to improve their processes, even more than they expected. “As we implement additional facets of the software, we continue to make changes to the way we do business, allowing Logos.NET to work for us and improve our processes, rather than match our outdated methods.”

In less than a year, the City of Newnan and New World implemented Logos.NET Financial Management, Payroll & Human Resources and Community Development.
“Together with New World, we developed an implementation and training schedule before we began and we met all the deadlines,” said Cline. “We had developers and an on-site trainer at our disposal, which made the process go much smoother.”
